The fake Sifu (teacher) played by Quinn Lee is named “Si Fu”. To translate this pun into English in the subtitles, the impostor is referred to as “Ti Cha” (from the English word teacher).
'Shin Lung' is a slightly altered nickname of Chan – Sin Lung. In translation, it means 'Already Dragon' or 'Become Dragon'.
"Fearless Hyena" became the second highest-grossing film in the history of Hong Kong.
This film was the last made under contract with Lo Wei. It was followed by a semi-sequel, "Fearless Hyena 2" (1980), the filming of which was completed using a Jackie Chan double.
The film marked Jackie Chan's directorial debut.
