What's left behind the scenes

  • The entire film was shot at one of the studios in Los Angeles.
  • The film was released in the US only on video.
  • According to David Trippet (who was the executive producer of the first three films in the franchise), this film was originally intended as a parody of Ron Howard's science fiction film 'Apollo 13' (1995). Someone from the management of 'Trimark Pictures' saw a poster for Howard's film and ordered that Tom Hanks' face, from that film, be replaced with the Leprechaun's face. After that, work began on the script.
  • Brent Jessmer bears a resemblance to Sylvester Stallone, and director Brian Trenchard-Smith initially wanted him to portray Stallone throughout the entire film. This idea was later abandoned.
