What's left behind the scenes

  • Most of the scenes in the film were shot in the state of Alabama.
  • At the beginning of the final scene, you can notice bus number “180”, the same as the plane and train in the first and third films, respectively.
  • James Wong was supposed to direct the fourth Final Destination film.
  • Filming was completed in May 2008, but in April 2009, reshoots of some scenes were organized in Florida.
  • This is the first film in the franchise shot in the USA, not Canada.
  • The name of the pool where Hunt dies is a reference to the name of the heroine from the first two films, Clear Rivers.
  • At the beginning of the film, the main characters were sitting in the stands in section 180, like the flight from the first part. Also, the car that crashed first and started the disaster at the racetrack was number 6, just like the seat on the «Roller Coaster» from the 3rd part, where the main character was supposed to sit.
  • During the filming of the car washing scene, Haley Webb actually broke the car window she was hitting. This take made it into the final cut of the film.
  • This is the only film in the franchise that does not feature Tony Todd in the cast. Todd was busy filming Michael Bay's science fiction action film "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" (2009) during the filming of this movie.
  • The sound a racing car makes after hitting an oil slick on the track is the same sound dolphins make.
  • The opening crash is based on the largest accident in motorsport history, which occurred in 1955 in France during the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. Many episodes of those tragic events were transferred to the film.
  • Hunt (played by Nick Zano) died when he was pulled underwater by a drain that didn't shut off as it should have when an object entered it, but instead continued to operate with increasing power. The film does not explain why the power increased. However, in a scene that was cut during editing, a golf cart parked nearby the pool rolls down a slope and crashes into a street lamp, which falls onto a distribution panel, causing the drain to operate with increasing power and ultimately leading to Hunt's death.
  • At the beginning of the final scene, you can notice bus number "180", the same as the plane and train numbers in the first and third films respectively.
  • At the beginning of the film, the main characters were sitting in section 180 of the stands, like the flight number from the first part. Also, the car that crashed first and started the disaster at the racetrack was number 6, just like the seat on the "Roller Coaster" ride from the 3rd part where the main character was supposed to sit.
