Short description
Maurizio Merli stars as a hatchet-wielding bounty hunter with a dark past and an even more desperate future. But when he disrupts the balance of power in a corrupt mining town, he unleashes a firestorm of brutality, betrayal and cold-blooded murder. Now, one man stalks a savage land where justice walks a razor and no bullets slice deeper than vengeance. He is A MAN CALLED BLADE.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was banned in Sweden.
  • Maurizio Merli was cast in the lead role due to his physical resemblance to Franco Nero.
  • ‘Mannaja’ in Italian means ‘Axe’ (the weapon of the protagonist).
  • Maurizio Merli performed most of the stunts himself.
  • The reason for the large amount of smoke and dust in the film is that the filmmakers were trying to conceal the fact that repairs were needed at the Elios studio near Rome.
  • John Steiner was afraid of horses, so the director made him stand on planks, and during close-up shots it looked like he was riding.
