- During the scene of Ilay's arrest and imprisonment on Carnegie's orders, a poster for the film "A Boy and His Dog" (1974) can be seen on the wall.
- The cannibals' hands tremble because they suffer from kuru (a rare neurodegenerative prion disease, a form of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) transmitted from person to person through cannibalism.
