What's left behind the scenes

  • Amblimation studio was dissolved in 1997, shortly after the release of 'Balto'. Later, the studio was reunited under the leadership of former Disney company director Jeffrey Katzenberg to create the animated film 'The Prince of Egypt' (1998), becoming the animation division of DreamWorks SKG.
  • Scenes with live actors (Grandma Rosie and her granddaughter) were filmed in Central Park, Manhattan (New York, USA).
  • The real Balto was not a mixed breed, but a purebred husky and was never a stray.
