Short description
When Chef Carl Casper suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner, he is left to figure out what's next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife, his friend and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen -- and zest for life and love.
What's left behind the scenes
- During the filming of the movie, Jon Favreau prepared his own dishes, learning from a chef named Roy Choi, who, like his character, works in a food truck.
- Roy Choi agreed to teach Jon Favreau to cook only on the condition that he be completely believable as a professional chef in every way – from how his character Carl folds towels at the beginning of the film, to how he cleans up his food truck. Choi even made Favreau work in his kitchens, doing menial and monotonous tasks, such as sorting parsley. This was necessary to teach Favreau to focus on the smallest details, to understand how a professional chef thinks, who needs to always remain focused and attentive to every little thing, regardless of the circumstances.
- When Carl and his son are sitting in the movie theater, you can hear the sound of repulsors from the movie *Iron Man* (2008), directed by Jon Favreau.
- When Percy creates Carl's Twitter account, you can notice that the account name is “@ChefCarlCasper.” However, Carl's very first tweet is posted by the user “@CasperCarl.” For the remainder of the film, all of his tweets are correctly posted from the account “@ChefCarlCasper.”
