Short description

Fioravante decides to become a professional Don Juan as a way of making money to help his cash-strapped friend, Murray. With Murray acting as his "manager", the duo quickly finds themselves caught up in the crosscurrents of love and money.

What's left behind the scenes

One of the few appearances of Woody Allen in a film he is not directing himself.
The first person John Turturro shared the new story with was, strangely enough, his barber. And the barber, accustomed to chatting with clients during haircuts, blabbed everything to Woody Allen. The master was so impressed with Turturro’s idea that he soon tracked him down and got involved in the work.
To create an authentic atmosphere in certain episodes of the film, John Turturro spent several years studying the life of the Orthodox Jewish community, reading books on the history of Hasidism, and meeting with many people from this circle.
While working on the role of a rabbi's widow, Vanessa Paradis spent several weeks communicating with a girl from a closed Jewish community, a woman with a life situation similar to her character. “She was a very strong, young, beautiful woman,” says Vanessa Paradis, “she was only 25, but it seemed like she had lived over a hundred years.”
