What's left behind the scenes

  • The script was originally titled “The Midnight Man” and was created as a prequel to the “Saw” franchise, but producers were against this idea and quickly rejected it.
  • Initially, the film was financed by Dimension Films, but they abandoned it due to a lack of funds for its release. Eventually, Lidell Entertainment bought the rights from Dimension Films and gave the film a short but successful release in 2009.
  • When Arkin first breaks into the house, he uses lock picks. He inserts a flat pick into the bottom of the lock and a second, serrated one into the top. However, the serrated edges are facing downwards and would therefore not be able to press on the pins.
  • The wife injects too much Botox (seemingly 1-2 ml) into her eyebrows. In reality, a small amount (0.1 ml) is required.
  • After the girl and the hero execute the old man with electricity, the Collector grabs him by the legs to drag him away. The water that was previously on the floor disappears. The wooden floor is completely dry.
  • When the daughter and her boyfriend are fooling around in the kitchen, he tears her shirt. When she jumps up, seeing the Collector, she covers herself with a gray sweater. In the next scene, she is wearing her white, buttoned-up shirt again.
  • When Arkin lights his first cigarette, the "Camel" logo is clearly visible. In the next scene, he is sitting in his truck talking to Jill, with a pack of "Marlboro" lying nearby.
  • When Arkin enters the house, he is wearing black sneakers, then he walks through the entire house and kicks a taut wire with his foot, after which the Collector’s shoes are shown. Later, when Arkin goes down the stairs into the basement, he is wearing worn brown boots – a total of three different pairs of shoes within 5 minutes.
  • When Arkin tries to free Larry from the box, it is visible that his legs are secured and he is chained. When the Collector picks up Larry after the electric shock, it is visible that there are no cuts on his legs.
  • When the Collector's van crashed into the ambulance carrying Arkin to the hospital, the front of the van remained completely intact.
  • When Arkin and Hanna run into the room with the aquarium, the door they close behind them opens inwards. The door the killer is knocking on opens towards the hallway (this is visible by the hinges). And at the end of the scene, when the door is ripped off its hinges, it is again the door that opens inwards into the room.
  • The LEDs on the "Napco" alarm panel light up even when there is no electricity in the house. However, many alarm systems have backup batteries to ensure the system operates even in the event of a power outage.
  • When paramedics pick Arkin up from the ground, it is raining in the foreground and background, but not a single drop falls on him or around him.
  • The "Napco" alarm control panel is not original; it was made by a third-party manufacturer.
  • In the first scene, crickets are seen inside the lamp on the lamppost. Crickets do not fly well and are poor climbers, so they could not have gotten inside the lamp. Furthermore, the cockroaches in the jar in a later scene are Madagascar hissing cockroaches. They are completely harmless, herbivorous, and wouldn't even try to bite human skin.
  • The script was originally titled "The Midnight Man" and was created as a prequel to the "Saw" franchise, but the producers opposed this idea and quickly rejected it.
