What's left behind the scenes
- The film was shot in the desert in southern Australia.
- During a break in filming, Rutger Hauer (1944-2019) decided to ride a motorcycle across the scrub. He chased a kangaroo for a while, then noticed he was lost, but eventually managed to return safely to the set.
- When Coober Pedy was chosen as the filming location (a small underground town in central South Australia), the view of it was simply amazing, and it hadn't rained there for several years, they said.
