What's left behind the scenes

  • During the scene of the fall from the clock tower, Jackie Chan suffered a serious injury to his lumbar spine. There were three takes, and all of them made it into the film.
  • The creation of the clock tower in the film was inspired by the Kowloon-Canton Railway clock tower, built in 1915. The set was built at Golden Harvest Studios. The real one, however, was built and put into operation in 1921 as part of the terminal station. The terminal station was moved in 1975, and now only the clock tower in Tsim Sha Tsui remains as a memory of it.
  • The door that Jackie Chan knocks on while riding a bicycle down the narrow street is not real. The door and wall were built for this scene because it was impossible to film the scene as intended on the real narrow street. Jackie decided to extend the wall so the camera could get the best shot. When the thug and his bicycle fall to the ground, you can see the front wheel hitting the false wall.
  • The film was shot over a period of 2 years.
  • In some scenes (including the fall stunt from the town hall), Jackie was doubled by Mars – a stuntman from the JC Association.
