What's left behind the scenes
- In some scenes, Scott wears a t-shirt with the inscription "Plumtree." This was the name of a Canadian female indie-pop band, from whose song title the comic book author Bryan Lee O'Malley borrowed the name of the main character. Although the band has not existed for over 10 years, the song "Scott Pilgrim" is included on the film's soundtrack.
- Universal Studios purchased the rights to the adaptation even before the second volume of the original comic book went on sale, which was released in 2005.
- Ramona's oversized mallet is a reference to the popular manga "Ranma 1/2," one of the sources that Bryan Lee O'Malley drew upon when he first began creating comics.
- The film was released simultaneously with the final volume of the comic book.
