What's left behind the scenes

  • Approximately 200 extras participated in the filming.
  • The watch worn by Liam Neeson's character is a Casio WV58A-1AV Wave Ceptor.
  • During the news broadcast, the reporter states that Marks was not born in America, but in Northern Ireland. Liam Neeson, who plays Marks, was born in Northern Ireland.
  • The airplane cabin set was deliberately made slightly taller than standard commercial airliners to accommodate Neeson's height of 1.93 meters.
  • When Bill Marks shows his ID, it's visible that his name is William (Bill being a derivative of the full name). The actor Liam Neeson's real name is William John Neeson.
  • Bill says the suspect who made the calls will be sent to federal prison upon arrival in London. The UK does not have federal law enforcement agencies. He would be met by the Metropolitan Police and the UK Border Force.
  • When Bill smokes in the bathroom for the first time, it can be noticed that he is smoking cigarettes of a non-existent brand. Later in the film, when he smokes again, it is visible that they are Marlboro.
  • At the beginning of the film, Jen and Bill order drinks while sitting on the plane. A stewardess brings a gin and tonic and water and places them in the cup holders. In the next shot, the drinks are already gone.
  • At the beginning of the film, when Bill enters the plane's cockpit, four engine levers can be seen. However, when the plane is shown from the outside, it is visible that there are only two engines.
  • Federal agents do not go through the same airport screening procedure as civilians, as shown in the film.
  • When the plane levels out after a steep descent to 8,000 feet, there is weightlessness in the cabin. This effect is only possible when the plane begins to rapidly lose altitude after a quick ascent.
  • In all scenes with fighter jets, afterburners are engaged. No fighter jet needs to activate afterburners to fly at 0.8 Mach alongside a commercial airliner. Also, in the plane towing scene, the nose wheel light is on, which would simply blind the tug driver.
  • In Icelandic airspace, the plane would not be escorted by Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. These fighters would have been replaced by American F-15s.
  • After the plane first rapidly loses altitude, everything unfastened flies towards the ceiling. However, most of the alcohol bottles in the business class bar don't even change their original position, and only a few are tilted. In later scenes, all the bottles are standing perfectly upright.
  • One of the requirements of the Federal Air Marshal Service for its employees is an age between 21 and 37. Liam Neeson was 61 years old at the time the film was released.
  • Federal agents never taste drug-like powder, as Bill Marks did when he discovered Hammond's diplomat.
  • During cabin depressurization, Jen first puts an oxygen mask on the girl, Becca, although the rules dictate the opposite: you should put the mask on yourself first, and then on the child.
  • When the plane is at an altitude of 8000 feet, Bill (and contrary to the laws of physics) flies through the cabin, grabbing a gun and shooting while in flight, however his target remains completely still.
