Short description
The popular cartoon cat and mouse are thrown into a feature film. The story has the twosome trying to help an orphan girl who is being berated and exploited by a greedy guardian.
What's left behind the scenes
- The name of the restaurant from which Tom is ejected includes the names Bill and Joe. Thus, the filmmakers honored the memory of the first creators of the Tom and Jerry cartoons, William Hanna (1910-2001) and Joseph Barbera (1911-2006).
- Initially, a live-action film about the cat and mouse was planned in the 1970s. Chevy Chase and Dustin Hoffman were to play Tom and Jerry, respectively. However, the idea never materialized.
- This was the last film in Dan Hill's career (she voiced Jerry). She passed away on July 15, 1996, at the age of 32.
