The knife's design – the maniac's favorite weapon – was created by the Soska sisters themselves.
According to the filmmakers, the character's clothing, as worn by Grayston Holt, is reminiscent of the clothing worn by Bruce Campbell's character in Sam Raimi's directorial debut, 'The Evil Dead' (1981). The makeup of Katherine Isabelle's character replicates the makeup of Dakota Block, played by Marley Shelton, in Robert Rodriguez's trash film 'Planet Terror' (2007).
When the title card 'Directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska' appears at the beginning of the film, two corpses are visible on the screen. They were played by the Soska sisters themselves.
