The film is based on the graphic novel "White Fog" by writer Greg Rucka and artist Steve Lieber.
The project was in the early stages of production as early as 2002. At that time, Reese Witherspoon was attached to the lead role.
The film features a scene of a plane crash in Antarctica: a similar incident occurred with an Il-14M of the Myachkovsky Joint Stock Company.
The crew of the An-12 aircraft consists of 5 people in its civilian modification: the commander, co-pilot, navigator, flight mechanic, and flight radio operator. However, in the film, the aircraft is operated by only 2 people, as on modern aircraft.
At the very beginning of the film, when Kate Beckinsale’s character enters the station, she takes off her gloves. But when she enters her cabin, the gloves are back on her hands.
At the end of the film, when Carrie Stetko enters the doctor's office, her cardigan is unbuttoned. After a scene change at the table, the cardigan is buttoned up again with a couple of buttons.
