The film is based on Shona Cross's autobiographical novel 'Derby Girl' (2007).
Elliot Page turned down a role in "Drag Me to Hell" (2009) to play Bliss.
When Ellen Page's character goes to the roller derby, she states she is 22 years old (instead of 17). In reality, this was the actress's age at the time of filming.
