What's left behind the scenes
- Seth Green could have played Jay.
- Initially, Kevin Smith wanted William Atherton to play Jared Svenning. The latter declined the offers due to the film's focus on a teenage audience.
- It can be noticed that Stan Lee constantly looks to the left or right while talking to Brodie, as he was reading his lines from cue cards.
- Scott Mosier, the film's producer, drew blueprints of Jay and Silent Bob.
- The film was shot at the Eden Prairie Center mall.
- Rene Mosier (Shannon Doherty) changes her outfits at least three times during a shopping trip. Shannon's contract included a special clause stating that she could keep all the items her character buys in the film. She also suggested that her character wear all the clothes she purchased at the mall.
- “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” was the second film in the so-called View Askewniverse. Other films include “Clerks” (1994), “Chasing Amy” (1997), “Dogma” (1999), “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” (2001), and “Clerks 2” (2006). All these films are united by common characters, plot lines, events, and contain numerous allusions and references to each other.
- The names of the two main characters, Brodie Bruce and T.S. Quint, are a reference to “Jaws” (1975), which featured characters with the same names, and the film crew referred to the shark as “Bruce”.
- Sven-Ole Thorsen played La Farsa, a security guard at the shopping complex. A bounty hunter in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” (1969) had the same name.
- In the scene where Jay and Silent Bob hide in the bookstore, Bob is reading John Pierson’s book, “Spike, Mike, Slackers and Dykes: A Guided Tour Across a Decade of American Independent Cinema.” This book contains numerous articles by Kevin Smith.
- The character played by Ben Affleck is named Shannon Hamilton. Shannon Doherty was married to Ashley Hamilton.
- In reality, the elevator where Brodie and Rene have sex has glass doors.
- Brodie’s shirt features the combined faces of three actors who auditioned for the role but didn't get it.
- The name Gwen Turner is a reference to director Genevieve Turner.
- Although Rene's last name is never spoken during the film, it can be found in the end credits – Monsieur, which is a reference to the film's producer Scott Monsieur.
