What's left behind the scenes
- In the film, Jeremy Irons' character writes a letter to his father with his right hand, although Kafka was left-handed.
- In one scene, Jeremy Irons' character asks a character played by Jeroen Krabbé to burn his manuscripts if he doesn't return. Franz Kafka (1883-1924) actually made a similar request to his friend Max Brod (1884-1968) before his death. Brod was unable to do so, and Kafka's works were published.
