What's left behind the scenes

  • Paul Sheppard, who played 12-year-old Alice, was 19 years old at the time of filming.
  • When Father Tom stands in the rain and watches Mrs. Trédon check the mailbox, a poster for Hitchcock's film "Psycho" (1960) can be noticed in the background.
  • Father Tom drives a 1957 Ford Fairlane.
  • Coincidentally, Linda Miller was injured just as they were filming the hospital scene. She was also receiving treatment there, which caused filming to be suspended for a month.
  • The filmmakers were very limited in funds and had to economize in many areas. Some props had to be made or sourced independently. For example, only one folding knife was used during filming, specially designed by a neighbor of Alfred Sole, who was an engineer by profession.
