Paul Sheppard, who played 12-year-old Alice, was 19 years old at the time of filming.

Coincidentally, Linda Miller was injured just as they were filming the hospital scene. She was also receiving treatment there, which caused filming to be suspended for a month.
The filmmakers were very limited in funds and had to economize in many areas. Some props had to be made or sourced independently. For example, only one folding knife was used during filming, specially designed by a neighbor of Alfred Sole, who was an engineer by profession.
