What's left behind the scenes

To learn to speak with a Russian accent, Naomi Watts watched videos on YouTube and also visited a Russian spa to hear the language firsthand and observe people's mannerisms.
Initially, Naomi Watts believed she would be given the role of Maggie (Oliver's mother) because, in her opinion, this character suited her better.
Subsequently, Naomi Watts admitted in an interview that she was simply horrified at the prospect of filming a bedroom scene with Bill Murray at the beginning of the film. According to director Ted Melfi, the actress was completely flushed with embarrassment and very tense. Even her partner noticed how nervous she was, so when the director shouted, "Cut!" he asked her some innocent question in a joking manner, after which Watts laughed and relaxed.
Naomi Watts remained in character even when she wasn't being filmed. This gave her confidence in the presence of Bill Murray.
The role of Vincent was initially offered to Jack Nicholson. He declined the offer and advised them to cast Bill Murray in the role.
When Oliver returns home after his first day at school, he is wearing sportswear because his school uniform was stolen. A change in the frame reveals that his shoes change: first, it's white tennis shoes, and in another frame, they are grayish-white basketball shoes.
When Vincent and Oliver are eating ice cream cones, by the end of the scene Vincent's cone remains untouched.
The main events of the film take place mid-school year in New York, however, it is summer outside.
While Oliver gathers information about Vincent’s service in Vietnam, he learns that Vincent was a sergeant major. However, when his photograph receiving an award from President Johnson is shown, his uniform displays the insignia of a second lieutenant. Furthermore, Vincent was born in 1946, and joined the army at 18, meaning that when Johnson left office, Vincent was 23 years old. He could not have achieved the rank of sergeant major in 5 years, even considering his combat experience.
