The role of Mary was played by the director's mother – Susanna Pasolini, in the scenes of Jesus's execution.
The apostle Philip was played by 21-year-old philosopher Giorgio Agamben. Writers Juan Rodolfo Wilcock and Natalia Ginzburg played Caiaphas and Mary of Bethany, respectively.
