What's left behind the scenes

  • In the scene with the 20-meter pole, Olivier Gruner had to try three different poles before finding one that met all the requirements.
  • Jean Warren, who was responsible for the special effects, also worked on the special effects for James Cameron's science fiction action film “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991), for which he received an “Oscar” a year later.
  • The tower's collapse in the chase scene was filmed for real. Construction specialists weakened the tower's foundation at pre-calculated points, and the stunt performers were given the command to prepare to flee at the right moment. The only special effects used during the filming of this scene were explosions.
  • The film is set in 2027.
  • The idea of implanting a bomb in Alex's body to force him to complete the mission was borrowed from John Carpenter's science fiction film "Escape from New York" (1981) starring Kurt Russell.
  • Deborah Shelton refused to use a body double when filming the nude scenes.
