Short description
Julia Child and Julie Powell – both of whom wrote memoirs – find their lives intertwined. Though separated by time and space, both women are at loose ends... until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.

- Filming took place in New York City and at the train station in Hoboken, New Jersey.
- The real Julia Powell participated in writing the film's screenplay.
- Meryl Streep is 15 centimeters shorter than her character, so the filmmakers tried to make her appear taller using cinematography and costume design techniques.
- This is the first feature film based on blog entries. In 2002, internet blogs were a novelty, which contributed to the immense popularity of Julie Powell's blog.
- Initially, a film about the lives of Paul and Julia Child was planned, based on Julia's book 'My Life in France'. However, after Julie Powell's book was released, the director decided to combine the two couples.
