- The film is based on Robert Ludlum’s novel “The Bourne Supremacy” (1986).
- Brian Helgeland finalized the script, but his name is not mentioned in the credits.
- To achieve the effect of a documentary film, the vast majority of the movie was shot with handheld cameras. The director also tried to avoid the use of computer graphics. Therefore, almost all the stunts in the film were performed live, without the use of special effects.
- Various devices used by Bourne throughout the film actually exist, and most of them can be purchased in regular stores.
- Bourne's ballpoint pen is a Rotring 600.
- The music heard in the lobby of the 'Hotel Brecker' is Frédéric Chopin's fourth ballad.
- During the filming of the interrogation scene at the consulate, Matt Damon accidentally knocked out Tim Griffin, who played John Nevins.
- Essentially, the film was shot in reverse order. This means that filming in Moscow took place first, and the scenes in Goa were shot last.

The controls of one of the cars (around 10 Volga taxis were used for filming the chase) were brought outside in such a way that they were not visible from inside the cabin.
- During his arrest, the killer shows the police a white card identifying him as an FSB employee – it doesn't resemble an FSB employee ID, a special voucher, or a permit to carry a weapon.
