What's left behind the scenes

  • The scene with the rain was filmed after the main shooting period had ended. Samuel Fuller ordered a tarpaulin to be spread on the set and watered with hoses.
  • In the first scene in the psychiatrist's office, portraits of Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) and Carl Jung (1875-1961) are hung on the walls.
  • According to director Samuel Fuller, the entire film was shot in 10 days, and exclusively indoors.
  • Performing the role proved to be very physically demanding, and Peter Breck had to be hospitalized after filming was completed.
  • Due to the small budget of the film and the large size of the soundstage, Samuel Fuller specifically hired people of short stature to walk in the distance down the corridor and visually increase the space.
