• The film featured almost all the stars from Paramount Pictures' roster, as they believed a film with such a cast would save the company from bankruptcy. The idea failed because, due to the costumes, all these screen stars remained practically unrecognizable. The film company was actually saved from bankruptcy by the comedic musicals 'She Done Him Wrong' (1933) and 'I'm No Angel' (1933) starring Mae West (1893-1980).
• Mary Pickford (1892-1979) and Walt Disney Studios planned to create a combination of live-action and animated film, but on May 9, 1933, Paramount Pictures beat them to it by acquiring the rights.
• The surnames of the technical personnel involved in the film's production are not listed in the final credits (this was common practice in that era), but the opening credits lasted almost 3.5 minutes (which was one of the longest title sequences on screen at the time) because virtually every role was played by a star of the time or a popular character actor, and they were all mentioned in the credits.
