What's left behind the scenes

  • The scene featuring Herbert Lom was filmed in half a day.
  • All scenes with Peter Cushing were filmed in two days.
  • Filming began in April 1972 and lasted 24 days, and just 15 weeks later the film appeared in cinemas.
  • Arthur Grant was supposed to be the cinematographer for this film, but three weeks before filming he learned he was incurably ill and left the project. He was replaced by Dennis N. Coop.
  • In an interview, Richard Todd said he regretted appearing in this film.
  • Vermicelli was used as the robots' innards.
  • Spike Milligan could have played a role in this film, but left the project before filming began, and the role went to Jeffrey Bayldon.
  • In the scene where the tailor's landlord holds the rent book, it appears in the other hand after a shot change.
  • In the first story, when showing the moving parts of a dismembered corpse, you can notice two right hands. One crawls across the floor, and the other towards Bonnie's face.
  • In the shot where Bonnie is chased by a severed hand, one of the crew members can be seen holding the hand and making it move.
