Short description
Larry Burrows is unhappy and feels powerless over his life. He believes his entire life could have turned out differently had he not missed that shot in a baseball game when was a kid. One night he meets this mysterious man, who could change his fate by offering him that alternative life he always dreamed of. But as Burrows embarks on this journey of self discovery he realises that even this new life has its problems and drawbacks..

What's left behind the scenes

  • In the pizzeria scene, Larry, played by James Belushi, guesses the song "Gimme Some Lovin'", a cover version once performed by The Blues Brothers featuring the actor's brother John Belushi (1949-1982).
  • The mansion where Larry lives is the same one used in the comedic thriller "Clue" (Jonathan Lynn, 1985).
  • It was after working on this film that Michael Caine decided to return to the UK after two decades spent in the US. He suddenly realized that he was no longer a leading actor, and that in Hollywood he was increasingly offered supporting roles, whereas in Europe he was still known as a movie star. Caine agreed to this role because filming was scheduled to take only a week, the fee was quite decent, and he used that fee to move to the UK. In the following years, he would occasionally still appear in American films, but either in supporting roles or in cameos.
  • When James Belushi and Linda Hamilton’s characters play mini-golf, you can, if you look closely, see the wall of an old frame house in the background. The mini-golf course was built on the abandoned outskirts of an area frequented by alcoholics and other similar types. Round-the-clock security was stationed near the sets during filming, otherwise the locals would have stolen something.
