To look convincing on camera, actor Jared Leto had to take up running.
Most of the film was shot in Washington State, but some episodes were filmed in Oregon, where Steve Prefontaine (1951-1975) was born and raised.
In fact, Steve Prefontaine (1951-1975) tried his hand at both basketball and football, but was not accepted onto the respective teams in high school due to his short stature. After that, he decided to try his luck in cross-country running and, when he was accepted onto the school team, fell in love with the track.
