What's left behind the scenes

  • During the opening credits, a photograph of an animal appears next to the name of each main cast member and crew member. In the case of director Damian Szifron, it’s a fox. The director later revealed that he chose this animal because his father adored foxes and never missed a documentary about them. He also confessed that he identifies with the animal, especially its gaze, because a director has “nothing to do” on set without a strict look.
  • The original screenplay for the film was 84 pages long, and the stories were presented in a different order. There was also a seventh story called “Bonus”.
  • Damian Szifron, the film's screenwriter and director, wrote the plots of many of the stories included in the film while lying in the bathtub. “It’s a great place to write,” he later said. While working on the screenplay in the bath, he sometimes lit candles and had a drink.
  • One of the best films of 2014 according to 'Time' magazine.
  • In the story “The Pastry Chef,” the passenger sleeping in the seat in the same row as the music critic never wakes up until the very end.
  • The history "Little Bomb" uses music from the television program "Children's Health," hosted by Mario Sokolinsky (1942-2007). This is the composition "Aire Libre" (1973) by Drafi Deutscher and Günther Bayer, performed by Lucien Belmont.
  • In the history "Pasternak," when the photo model first pronounces the name "Gabriel Pasternak," this character emerges from behind a curtain at the back of the airplane cabin with a glass of coffee in his hand. He walks past the photo model and the music critic and goes into the cockpit. Later, a flight attendant starts a conversation about this character.
  • In the pastry shop that Simon enters in the history "Little Bomb," a wedding cake from the history "Till Death Do Us Part" is on display.
  • When the Audi driver takes tools out of the trunk to change a tire, reflections of two crew members can be seen in the left brake light.
  • When the Audi driver is jostled by the seatbelt — you can notice that he is wearing knee pads.
  • When the Peugeot driver, trying to get out of the overturned car, kicks out the rear door window, it doesn't shatter into pieces, but breaks like ordinary glass. In the next frame, the window is whole.
  • In the computer game This Is The Police, one of the police calls contains a reference to the 'Strongest' story from this film. The call repeats the main elements of the plot, however, the setting and the ending differ significantly: in the game, the action takes place in the forested areas of North America, and the incident does not end with the death of both participants.
  • As stated on screen, the bridge in the film “The Strongest” is located at the 60th kilometer of the road between Cafayate and Salta. Now this place attracts many tourists. It can be found at coordinates (25°43'50.4"S 65°41'48.5"W).
  • The seventh Argentine film nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category, and the third in a row starring Ricardo Darín. The first two nominated films starring this actor were “The Son of the Bride” by Juan José Campanella (2001) and “The Secret in Their Eyes” by the same director (2009).
