Short description
A faulty computer causes a passenger space shuttle to head straight for the sun, and man-with-a-past Ted Striker must save the day and get the shuttle back on track – again – all the while trying to patch up his relationship with Elaine.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The lunar shuttle shown in the film is called Mayflower. This was the name of the ship that carried the English who founded the first British settlement in North America across the Atlantic Ocean in 1620. The connection with the ship "Mayflower" is emphasized in the advertising slogan: "Mayflower – our first lunar shuttle."
  • The psychiatric hospital from which Ted Stryker escaped is called the "Ronald Reagan Hospital." At the time the film was being made, Ronald Reagan was the current President of the United States.
