What's left behind the scenes
- When director Richard Pearce went to Chicago to finalize the filming locations, he was accompanied by Richard Gere, the actor playing the role of Eddie. He prepared for the role of Eddie by spending time with Chicago undercover police officers.
- The once-famous – and long-gone – Chicago stockyards were recreated by a set decoration team led by Patricia von Brandenstein. The same team created a railroad crossing to which thirty head of cattle were later delivered for filming.
