- Sean William Scott was initially cast as Connor Watts, but the actor was unable to participate in the filming, and the role went to Johnny Knoxville.
- The song in Chinese sung by Johnny Knoxville in the film's trailer is actually Jackie Chan's "Please Understand My Heart." In Hong Kong, Chan is known as an actor and is famous as a singer who has released several albums.
- Jackie Chan came up with the name "Benny" for his character so that his partner's daughter, Samantha, would call him "Uncle Benny." The actor took this name in honor of Kim Chan (1917-2008), who played Uncle Benny in Richard Donner's action film "Lethal Weapon 4" (1998). Jackie Chan simply changed the letter "y" to the letters "ie" in the English spelling of the name.
