• Norman Lloyd, who played a supporting role, was 100 years old at the time of filming. Lloyd said that most of his lines were improvised, and that this was the first time in his career that he had improvised on set.
• When Norman Lloyd and Judd Apatow met for lunch to discuss Lloyd’s role, Apatow was very surprised that the 99-year-old actor had driven to the meeting himself. Apatow was even more impressed later by the actor’s independence – he flew to New York alone, without any assistance, and got to the set, and he never asked for special treatment or breaks during filming.
