What's left behind the scenes

  • The Japanese title of the film, written in hieroglyphs, means "scheme".
  • Many scenes in the film were shot from windows.
  • The scene in which a woman throws herself from the roof of a high-rise building was relatively simple to produce. It required editing, computer graphics, and the work of a stunt double. As the director Kiyoshi Kurosawa himself explained, they first filmed a stuntwoman jumping from the roof with a safety harness, then filmed the fall of a mannequin in the same clothes, after which they combined everything and digitally removed the safety cable from the image.
  • Kawashima reviews people's faces on a computer monitor and sees a bearded man who looks up and stares directly into his eyes. That bearded man was the screenwriter and director Kiyoshi Kurosawa.
  • The original title can be translated as "The Scheme" or "The Chain."
