What's left behind the scenes

  • Previously, the project was being developed at Universal Studios, but it moved to Sony Pictures Entertainment.
  • The idea and screenplay for the film were developed at Company Films, owned by Keanu Reeves and Stephen Hamel.
  • John Spaihts' screenplay, written in 2007, ranked third on the Black List of the best unproduced screenplays that year.
  • Reese Witherspoon, Rachel McAdams, and Emily Blunt were considered for the lead female role at various times.
  • On one of the posters, directly below the film's title, are the symbols: dot dot dot, dash dash dash, dot dot dot – representing the S.O.S. signal in Morse code.
  • Gabriele Muccino, Marc Forster, and Brian Kirk were all contenders for the director's chair.
  • Both Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence star in Marvel comic book adaptations. Pratt plays Peter Quill (Star-Lord) in 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' and Lawrence portrays Raven Darkhölme (Mystique) in the 'X-Men' saga.
  • Notably, Jennifer Lawrence's character is named Aurora. The Sleeping Beauty from the Disney animated film of the same name also bore that name.
  • Jennifer Lawrence admitted she was very nervous during the intimate scene with Chris Pratt, as it was her first such scene in her career and because it was the first time she had to kiss a married actor. The actress confessed that she had a drink for courage before filming the scene.
  • Jennifer Lawrence claims that 'Passengers' is the first film where she had to play a bedroom scene. However, she had already filmed such scenes with Anton Yelchin in 'Like Crazy' (2011) and with Bradley Cooper in Susanna Bier's 'Serena' (2014).
  • The episode where the first mate leads the heroes to the engineering section is a reference to the scene of Morpheus and Neo's conversation in the machine department of Zion in the film "The Matrix Revolutions." Notably, Keanu Reeves could have played the role of Jim.
  • When Jim goes into open space for the first time and disconnects his boots to fly on a cable, a tear runs down his cheek, which is impossible due to the lack of gravity.
  • In zero gravity, even with the power off, the ship cannot suddenly start and stop rotating as shown in the film. This violates several fundamental laws of physics.
  • When the main character manually opens the reactor ventilation, not just fire, but a plasma flow – that is, highly energetic charged particles – rushes into it. In such conditions, radio communication cannot function.
  • The freezing of the spacesuit from the inside, as shown at the end of the film, can only be caused by a rapid decompression, for example, if his helmet were torn off. A small puncture in the sleeve would be easily handled by the spacesuit without significant harm to the astronaut inside.
  • In the reactor control room, as the temperature rose, Aurora burned herself on a lever, but for some reason all other objects in the room remained cool and she could touch them without harm.
  • In the elevator used by the main characters, which passes directly through the ship's axis of rotation, gravity should be constantly absent, not just during movement. However, movement inside the elevator should create a conditional "gravitation" caused by its acceleration.

  • In the reactor control room, when the temperature rose, Aurora burned herself on the lever, but at the same time all other objects in the room inexplicably did not heat up, and she calmly touches them.
