- Benedict Cumberbatch initially declined the role of Stephen Strange due to commitments to other projects. He agreed to take the part only after learning that the film’s release date had been moved from July to November 2016.
- Benedict Cumberbatch admitted that he was most attracted to the role of Stephen Strange by its spirituality. “The spiritual dimension is exactly what interests me,” he said. “It’s part of my own life. I meditate a lot. It’s a very useful practice that helps me calm down, distract myself from a busy life, and focus on becoming kinder and more attentive to other people.”
