- One scene in Brian De Palma’s “Femme Fatale” (2002) is set at the Cannes Film Festival during the premiere of “East-West.”
- Oleg Menshikov played his role without knowing the French language – he learned his lines entirely by ear. After each shooting day, he would learn the French text, transcribed into Russian letters by his assistant, for filming the next episode.
