Short description

A searing journey from youthful hopes and dreams to the edge of despair and back again, it’s a film about young love, the futility of war and how to make sense of the darkest times.

- A film adaptation of Vera Brittain's memoirs published in 1933.
- Saoirse Ronan was originally planned to play the role of Vera, but she left the project due to scheduling conflicts. Ultimately, the role went to Alicia Vikander.
- Filming took place in Yorkshire, Oxford, and London. Scenes at the railway station, inside the train, and in the station café were filmed at Keighley Station. Scenes at the Appingham school, the Melrose house, and the field hospital were filmed at Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire. Scenes by the lake were filmed in Darlton Dale, Derbyshire.
