What's left behind the scenes

  • Initially, it was assumed that Jason Mewes would play all the monsters in the film. However, it turned out that the actor suffers from claustrophobia, so he couldn't even pass the makeup and prosthetics tests, which required a huge amount of makeup and headpieces, let alone the need to wear full-body suits. These roles were offered to Haley Joel Osment, but his manager declined the offer. In the end, the screenwriter and director Kevin Smith played all the monsters. He had to shave his beard for the makeup application.
  • Johnny Depp agreed to star in "Yoga Hosers" for a number of reasons: а) due to his participation in "Tusk," Smith's first film in the "Canadian Trilogy" (2014); b) his daughter, Lily-Rose, and Smith's daughter, Harley Quinn, have been friends since kindergarten; c) Smith's comedy-dramas "Chasing Amy" (1996) and "Jersey Girl" (2004) are among his favorite films. Therefore, the actor always wanted to appear in Kevin Smith's films.
  • Producer, editor, podcaster, and actor Scott Mosier, known for his work with director Kevin Smith, recorded his lines for the film on their joint podcast, "SModcast."
  • Kevin Smith believed that the Motion Picture Association of America would give the film a PG-13 rating, but it received an R rating due to alleged "sexual content." Smith intended to file a lawsuit to compel the MPAA to lower the rating, but the MPAA re-watched the film and lowered the rating without going to official proceedings.
  • Kevin Smith met Tyler Posey at the annual San Diego Comic Con International in 2014, where Posey was part of the creative team for the series "Teen Wolf" (2011), and Smith himself participated in promotional photoshoots with berserkers from the show's 4th season. A fan of the series, Smith decided to create a character specifically for Posey after meeting the lead of "Teen Wolf." That character became Gordon Greenleaf, one of the characters in "Yoga Hosers."
  • Michael Parks was initially cast in the role of the mysterious old man, but the actor fell ill at an inopportune time. The role went to Ralph Garman, who had to shave his head for filming.
  • Kevin Conroy, the voice of the main character in the 1992 "Batman," played an episodic role in the film "Yoga Hosers".
  • During a fight with one of the monsters, Colin McKenzie says, "I really shouldn't be here today!" This same phrase appears in Kevin Smith's first film, "Clerks" (1994).
