The horror-punk band Misfits from New Jersey appeared in the film. They performed two songs from their album "Famous Monsters": Descending Angel and Scream, and also wrote two songs specifically for the film – Bruiser and Fiend Without a Face.
George A. Romero directed a music video for the Misfits' song Scream, and the only fee he requested was for them to appear in the film "Bruiser" (2000) and write a couple of songs for it.
This is the first film by George A. Romero not to be shot near his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
According to George A. Romero and his wife Christine Forrest in the commentary on the DVD of "Dawn of the Dead" (1978), the distributors of "Bruiser" (2000) presented it as a horror film. But both Romero and Forrest felt that it was not simply a horror film, but more of a story about a man going through difficulties in life.
