• The old sanatorium where the brothers live is only part of the sanatorium in the town of Beelitz, near Berlin. The entire complex consists of 60 buildings built between 1898 and 1930. When the sanatorium was used as a military hospital during World War I, Adolf Hitler was among the wounded patients there. After World War II, it was used as a military hospital by the Soviet Union until 1994. Because it has not been modernized during this time, the complex is very popular with film studios. Scenes for films such as "The Pianist" and "Operation Valkyrie" were filmed on its grounds.
