What's left behind the scenes
- At the beginning of the film, Becca and Tyler are looking at photos on the wall in their grandparents' house. One of the pictures features the possessed Annabelle doll from James Wan's 2013 film, "The Conjuring".
- This is the first horror film directed by M. Night Shyamalan that does not feature music by James Newton Howard, an outstanding composer who has written music for many popular films. The director opted to forgo musical accompaniment due to the low budget and the nature of the film, which is shot in the "found footage" genre (a genre in which the entire film or a significant portion of it is presented to the viewer as material from found recordings on film or video cameras, often remaining after the film's missing or deceased characters).
