What's left behind the scenes

  • Ben Affleck stated that he happily appeared in this film as Bruce Wayne (Batman), which sharply contrasted with his opinion of filming the science fiction action film 'Justice League' (Zack Snyder, 2017), where he played the same character.
  • Michael Shannon was unsure about returning to the role of General Zod, remembering the circumstances of his departure from Zack Snyder's franchise, however, Snyder did not object to Shannon reprising the role and informed the actor of this.
  • The intention to film this movie first became known in 2014, and it was released in 2023. During that time, nine seasons of the television series of the same name were released (2014-2023).
  • Filming or production began four years before the film's release. This was due to a number of reasons: in particular, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the film industry, doubts within Warner Bros. regarding the future of the "DC Extended Universe" after a series of unsuccessful releases (which either did not resonate with audiences as expected, or did not achieve the anticipated box office results), and substantial projects from other film studios awaiting wide release, and consequently, a lack of a convenient "window" for the premiere. The personal problems and inappropriate behavior of lead actor Ezra Miller also played a role (he was repeatedly arrested and faced accusations).
  • Henry Cavill did appear in a cameo role as Superman, but footage of him was cut when the reboot of the "DC Universe" was announced, ending Cavill's plans to return to the franchise.
  • Ezra Miller and British writer and comic book author Grant Morrison created a script that portrayed the main character in a darker tone, but this version of the script was not well-received by the studio.
  • Mexican and Brazilian actresses, such as Bruna Marquezine and Isis Valverde, also auditioned for the role of Kara, but were unable to travel to London for filming due to coronavirus restrictions.
  • During the collision of universes, viewers may notice universes in which the events of the "Adventures of Superman" (1952-1958) series starring George Reeves (1914-1959) unfolded; Richard Donner's (1930-2021) science fiction film "Superman" (1978) starring Christopher Reeve (1952-2004); and Leslie H. Martinson's (1915-2016) science fiction action film "Batman" (1966) starring Adam West (1928-2017) took place. Footage from the "Superman Lives" project starring Nicolas Cage, which was never released, was also included in the film. It was to be directed by Tim Burton in 1998, and posters were even designed and approved, but the project was shut down three weeks before filming began due to the box office failure of Joel Schumacher's (1939-2020) 1997 science fiction action film "Batman & Robin."
  • During the final confrontation with the Kryptonians, a young Barry can be seen wearing one of Michael Keaton's Batman cowl. He turns to the older Barry in this cowl, a reference to Keaton himself, and to how, in the Batman suit, he was unable to turn his head and had to turn his entire torso.
