• Director Drake Doremus only envisioned Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart in the lead roles, but always together. If either of this pair had been unable to appear in the film, the director would have found another actor and actress to play the second role.
• Jennifer Lawrence also read the script but said she didn't see herself in the lead role. The actress starred in another of Doremus' films – the drama 'Like Crazy' (2011).
• Filming took place in Tokyo and Singapore.
• In one scene, Silas has his blood drawn for analysis. Nicholas Hoult, who played him, had to wear a hospital gown to hide a large bruise on his arm that the actor sustained while skateboarding with Kristen Stewart.
• In one scene, Nia and Silas are sitting on a wall, and the girl is telling him something. Kristen Stewart read her own poetry to her co-star.
• Jennifer Lawrence also read the script, but said she didn't see herself in the role of the main character. The actress starred in another film by Doremus – the drama "Like Crazy" (2011).
