• Matteo Garrone's first English-language film.
• The sea monster fight scene was intended to be more dynamic, but director and producer Matteo Garrone had to make changes to it because when the monster was shown to his son and friends during a break, the prop monster (it was indeed a prop monster, not a product of computer technology) broke.
