What's left behind the scenes
- The fight between Puss in Boots and the giant was originally intended for the first film in the "Puss in Boots" franchise (Chris Miller, 2011), and a significant portion of the film's choreography was taken from unused storyboards. The only difference was that in the original version, the monster would have been a man-eating giant (this was a reference to the early tales of Shrek and Puss in Boots).
- When John Mallee's character gathers people, the horses pulling the carriage are actually unicorns that have had their horns sawn off.
