- Prior to the premiere of "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" on MTV (August 7, 1999), one scene was cut from the film. During a tour of the National Archives, Beavis went to the bathroom. Finding no toilet paper, the character went into the exhibition hall where he encountered a display case containing the Declaration of Independence. While the security guard slept, Beavis took the American flag and smashed it through the glass protecting the historic document. The alarm went off in the hall, and security personnel rushed to find the perpetrator. However, Beavis managed to remain unnoticed and return to the bathroom, where he relieved himself and "wiped" with the Declaration of Independence.
- Two short scenes had to be re-edited, otherwise the film would have lost its PG-13 rating (children under 13 are not advised to view). In the scene where Principal McVicker is spanked in a motel room, he was originally completely undressed from the waist down, and the animators added underwear for him. Another moment was cut from the film altogether – on the way to the airport, Muddy offers Beavis and Butt-Head a sip of whiskey. The American Film Association decided that this short episode alone could earn the film an R rating (persons under 17 years of age are only allowed to view with a parent or legal guardian). Therefore, the scene was cut off at the point where Muddy hands them the bottle.
- During the hallucination scene in the desert, voices can be heard in the distance by Beavis and Butt-Head. If you play the soundtrack backwards, it becomes clear that it is the characters themselves speaking, and the phrases they utter include the following: "Everyone goes to college and studies hard, studies hard."
- The American film production company Geffen Pictures, founded by David Geffen, bought the rights to a live-action adaptation in 1993, hoping to make a full-length feature film starring David Spade and Adam Sandler as Beavis and Butt-Head, respectively. Director, voice actor, and screenwriter Mike Judge strongly criticized this idea. He stated that making a live-action film about Beavis and Butt-Head was nothing short of blasphemy, and would be far more expensive than animation. It is claimed that the film was created in the form it was seen by audiences as a result of a coin toss.
- Robert Stack was so embarrassed about participating in this project that he paid his lawyers to ensure his name did not appear in any promotional materials. Over time, however, he changed his attitude towards his role.
- According to Mike Judge, by the time work began on this project, he was so exhausted from filming a television series that he wanted to quit everything. Unfortunately, his contract with MTV stipulated eight seasons. In order to finish with it all as quickly as possible, he decided to make a feature film hoping he would be allowed to skip the final season stipulated in his contract. MTV released him after the seventh season, which premiered a year after the film's release.
